Dave in Malawi

Background

The Malawi project is a now well established project having run for 3 previous (and highly successful years). SVA work in partnership with the NGO, AYISE (Active Youth Initiative for Social Enhancement). The organisation works in several different areas including human rights and democracy as well as health education and other development activities.

The Team

I am going with 10 other wonderfully amazing people; Allan, Ben, Casey, Ciaran, Christina, Helena, Kathy, Laura, Lisa and Rachel. Photos and stories will follow soon, no doubt. The group was formed in February and since then we’ve been doing a lot of fundraising and getting to know one another. I have a funny feeling that these people are going to be one of the main factors behind making the trip a huge success.

Activities

When working with AYISE we will have the chance to work in many different areas including:

• Teaching in local primary schools
• Sports coaching for local youth
• HIV/Aids awareness
• Extra-curricular activities in local schools
• Construction projects
