About Malawi
Malawi is a small country in South-eastern Africa. It is landlocked by Tanzania, Zambia and Mozambique. The Great Rift valley runs through the country from north to south. In this deep trough lies Lake Malawi, the third largest lake in Africa and the tenth largest in the world, making up around twenty per cent of Malawi’s land. The capital city is Lilongwe.
Blantyre and Bangwe
I will be based in the urban township Bangwe, thirty minutes away form the southern city of Blantyre. Blantyre is Malawi’s major commercial centre where most industrial and business offices are located. It is also Malawi’s largest city. Blantyre is named after the birthplace of Dr David Livingston, a Scotsman who was one of the first missionaries to visit the country.
